Message
from Rhett Greetings. I hope that you and your family are well and prospering in the Lord.
The most important questions we can ever ask and find correct answers to are the same ones that a man called Saul asked of God. Confronted by a blinding light, he fell to the ground and heard the voice of God speaking. Saul asked the Lord two questions...“Who are you, Lord?” and “What shall I do, Lord?” (Or, “What do you want me to do, Lord?”
This is life’s first most important question. God has revealed Himself to humanity through via several avenues. God shows Himself through creation. The earth, skies, and seas resonate with the glory of God. The Lord also shows Himself through people. He uses family, friends, children and the church to reflect His nature. However, the primary way God reveled Himself was through His Son Jesus Christ and through His written revelation, the Bible. The purpose of the Bible is to show us God, His purposes, and His ways. Each person must deal with the question, “Who are you, Lord?” Let me encourage you to get on your knees daily and pray, “Lord, show yourself to me today.” Then expectantly read the Bible, looking for God to show Himself to you and speak to you. One of my favorite Christian leaders says that he reads the Bible on his knees every day, asking God to speak to him personally through the written word.
This is life’s second most important question. God created you with a plan to use you to glorify Him. Your life span may be short or long compared to others. You may have a public ministry or a behind the scenes one. You may have many talents or just a few. But God chose before He even created you to work in your life for one primary purpose – that He would glorify Himself through your life. So every day we should approach God with the question, What do you want me to do, Lord? We pray about daily decisions, confessing our dependence on God for even trivial matters. We want God to show us how to follow Him every day – as do we our jobs, interact with people, raise our families, and enjoy our lives.
If you have not done so, begin asking these two questions daily to the Lord and expect Him to answer!
Grace and peace to you,
